Why this matters
When a colleague, a pupil or a member of your team is struggling, the people around them usually want to help. What holds them back is not care, it is confidence. They worry about saying the wrong thing, making it worse, or stepping into something they are not trained for. So they say nothing, and the moment passes.
This training changes that. Your people learn to recognise when someone is not okay, to open a conversation without fear, and to hold that moment safely until the right support is in place. It is practical, trauma-informed and built for real workplaces and classrooms, not a textbook.
The result is a culture where distress is met early and calmly, where staff feel protected rather than exposed, and where nobody has to carry a difficult moment alone.

“Nick has been an amazing support at a significant time in my life, with helping me consider my priorities and next career options. He really gets to know you in a relaxed approach and personalises it to you. He has helped me develop my confidence and made me feel a lot more confident about myself.”

Understanding “Mental Health First Aid” terminology
The title “Mental Health First Aider” is a protected designation used by MHFA England and similar organisations internationally. It should only be used by individuals who have completed those specific Ofqual-recognised Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications.
This programme is distinct. It is CPD-accredited, non-clinical, trauma-informed educational training designed to help people provide psychologically safe, compassionate support. It does not replace professional intervention or clinical diagnosis, and it is not a regulated qualification.
Certification
Graduates receive a CPD-accredited Certificate of Completion recognising in-depth training in trauma-informed mental health first aid practice. Certification is valid for three years and can be renewed through refresher training. On completion, participants may use the title Trauma-Informed Mental Health First Aid Practitioner and display the Trained by The Mental Wellbeing Company trust tag.
What your team will learn
Three core capabilities, taught in plain language and grounded in how the brain responds to stress and safety.
Spot the signs early
Recognise the quiet changes in behaviour, mood and language that show someone is struggling, before things reach a crisis point.
Respond calmly and safely
Open a supportive conversation, listen without judgement and stay grounded, so the person in front of them feels safe, not managed.
Know when and how to signpost
Understand the limits of the role, and how to hand over to the right internal or professional support with confidence and care.
A trauma-informed understanding of how stress, distress and safety affect behaviour
Confidence to start difficult conversations early, before a situation escalates
Clear boundaries, so staff know what is theirs to hold and what to pass on
Practical tools that work in the flow of a real workplace or classroom
A more consistent, compassionate response to distress across your team
Staff who feel supported and equipped, not left to cope alone
Deeper outcomes
Beyond the individual skills, the training builds a shared language and a steadier culture around wellbeing.
